Hi!!
Regarding my post December 28th, 2011, 07:25 pm
Believe I found the problem with faulting------ Moved processor to a dif. rack and fault cleared! Powered down, removed processor and re-installed. Fault again! Figured this must be conn. prob. Shure enough, fond a pin on large backplane conn. BENT over touching another pin. Straightened out, re-inserted and now fault is still set and NO comm. Node cant be found. Probably the504 is now gone (but not forgotten!) Question is could rack backplane been damaged? still have pwr. indicators light on my modules
And I'm using df1-1 driver and auto config. successful so linx is trying to talk to the processor-------------

Try making a new test program with proper cpu selected, proper I/O configuration and just one rung with the END instruction. Try to go online and then download to the processor. Auto config successful is encouraging, might be some hope yet. Flashing FAULT is normal for no program.
The original backplane could be damaged if the processor worked with fault cleared in a different backplane. If what I posted doesn't work in the original backplane try the same procedure in the different backplane.

Yes, Done that to the letter. But shouldn't rslinx Identify node 1 w/o program?? I'm NOT all that adept at this yet, still learning all the details

I don't know the answer for certain. It makes sense to me that if no progam was present, rslinx would not have enough information to identify the processor. I tried what you asked with the emulator program. 1st, with no program loaded, it errored out " No program in processor". 2nd, with a program loaded, it identified the processor program I had loaded as a Micrologix at node 01. That is the processor I had defined in the program.
Maybe someone else will have a better answer.

Edit:
Please post the current status of all the lights on the CPU. Tell us which ones are Flashing "On and Off", and those that are solid "On" or "Off".

Here is a link to a manual excerpt that explains the lights as a diagnostic tool. Beginning on page 10-11 is the troubleshooting guide info for the slc 5/04 CPU and the recommended action. Find what best matches your condition.
