I ask for advice. There is S7-226 and S7-3XX, how I can connect to this ones? I have to mean with help one device. I think that CP5512 will can do it.Can connect to both S7-226 and S7-3XX.
What I need to buy else? How I can to made cable for CP5512. What part I need for this?

I have a CP5511 and a CP5512. Using XP you have to have Simatic Step 7 version 5.2 (I know its higher than 5.0 SP2)and the CP5512, the CP5511 doesnt work well i at all in XP.

The PCMCIA CP5511 and 5512 will work with S7-200 and S7 300/400. Its my understanding that it will not work with S5.

Siemens also makes a USB adapter but I am not sure will work with both 200 and 300/400. The USB adapter is not as expensive as the pcmcia cards.

To connect with the CP5511/5512 you need the adapter part #C79459-A1890-A10, the cable should come with that hardware adapter. The cable is MPI cable part # 6ES7 901-0BF00-0AA0

BTW the cable is simple to make, just uses 3 wires 2, 3 and 5 I believe but that would need to be verified. The hardware adapater is the necessary component.

Making cable

I'm sorry, I have been working with old equipments of automatic, like coil etc, since last year I work with new ones like S7-3XX, etc. In past I don't know what is Profibus. I know what is RS232. How exatly I must connect wires, on side PLC(9-pin) on side CP5511(9pin).

Since several weeks I try together with Siemes Helpdesk (DE) to find a solution for working with my old CP5511 card on my new computer Compaq Evo N1015v with Win XP pro, 512 Mb ram.
The results (also with using the ID 6721667, ID 9853739 and CP5511inf.exe) are always the same : no memory resources advaible and D0000 to DFFFF is not valid for my poor Compaq and and and...
I desinstalled LPT in XP hardware device (not possible in bios)
It becomes a little bit hopeless because a) my serial MPI connection to the CPUs takes a lot of time and b) my boss at work will not be so happy if I need to buy a new CP5512 card and send the CP5511 to h*ll...

I have the CP5512 pcmcia card, and run WinXP Pro SP2 on a IBM T60, never had any problems connecting to S7-200/300/400. The Siemens usb adapter however will not work with S7-200 PLC's. But you can get a usb to S7-200 adapter.

Hello Tlynyrd, when connecting to S7200 using CP5512, where do you set in the PG/PC interface utility? I was thinking CP5512(PPI), but somehow it is not listed. We used to have a Siemens PG740 and I remember setting it to 5611(PPI).

My CP5511 works in my relatively new laptop with XP and all.
Its a HP and it supports both 16 and 32 bit PCMCIA cards.
If you have a CP5511 and you are looking to get a new laptop, be sure to check the manufacturers website about the support for 16-bit PCMCIA.
